KB325258: In MicroStrategy Secure Enterprise 10.x, reports running against Salesforce are limited to 2000 rows

SYMPTOM
When importing Salesforce reports in Strategy Secure Enterprise 10.x, the number of rows imported is limited to 2000.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Login to Strategy Web 10.x and perform the following steps:

  1. From the home screen, go to Add External Data.
  2. Select Salesforce Reports and authenticate if required.
  3. Browse to a report that contains more than 2,000 rows, and drag it into the right-side pane.
  4. Click Finish, and save the cube.
  5. Create a new report or dashboard using the cube. Drag the Row Count metric onto the grid, and observe that it is 2,000. This can also be confirmed by adding all of the attributes into the grid and observe that it is still only 2,000 rows.

CAUSE
This is caused by a limitation with the Salesforce SOAP API which sets a maximum batch size of 2000 rows.

ACTION
The issue is resolved in Strategy 10.4 Hotfix 2 as well as Strategy 10.6 and newer releases. In newer releases, calls for such data will go through REST API and switch export type to csv which will get around the 2000 row limit.

The internal Strategy case number for this issue is DE37800
