KB327556: Getting the error “An IO error occurred” when duplicating a project in MicroStrategy 10.x

SYMPTOM:
When duplicating a project in Strategy 10.x, the event log shows a "Duplication Finished!" message followed directly by an error as seen in the screenshot below.  Even though the duplication finished, the project cannot be loaded onto the intelligence server.

1. In Strategy Developer, right click on a project and choose Duplicate Project…
2. Go through the Project Duplication Wizard and choose the desired settings.
3. Click Finish to start the duplication process.
4. Notice the event log shows the "Duplication Finished!" message followed by the IO error.

 
CAUSE:
As seen by the entries in the DSSErrors.log, the error is caused by a permissions issue.
 
ACTION:
Run Developer as the administrator to avoid the permissions issue and successfully duplicate the project.
