"[Kernel][Error] CDSSServerMessage::GenerateInBoxKey: Can`t generate Inbox key for message <XXXXX>, start time=<XXXXX>, because project <XXXXX> isn`t running(hr=0x80043041)." error message appears in the DSSErrors.log.

SYMPTOM:

The following error message can be seen in the DSSErrors.log after having deleted a project from the metadata:

Sample Code/Error
CDSSServerMessage::GenerateInBoxKey: Can`t generate Inbox key for message <XXXXX>, start time=<XXXXX>, because project <XXXXX> isn`t running(hr=0x80043041).

CAUSE:

Probably  the internal Strategy configuration manager is attempting to access data for a project that is not available on the Intelligence Server. On some occasions after users delete a project from the metadata there could be some sessions established to the deleted project that have not expired yet. Those sessions could be in the process of logging out and backing up the Inbox files but since the project does not exist anymore then the error message above gets registered into the DSSErrors.log.

ACTION:

The error is harmless in this scenario. The sessions to the deleted project should time-out eventually and the error message will disappear.

If users continue to see these errors in the DSSErrors.log a long time after the project was deleted and they notice any problem on Strategy functionality that could be a consequence of this error message, they can enable the User Trace from the Diagnostics Configuration and send it to Technical Support to try to track the source of the error message.
