KB33290: "Object with ID '00000000000000000000000002000000' and type 34 (User) is not found in metadata. It may have been deleted." error message appears when editing any object in MicroStrategy Developer

This article discusses a symptom seen due to an invalid lock reference in the metadata.

SYMPTOM:
In Strategy Developer, user receives the following error when trying to edit any object in a project. For example, open Project Configuration, or edit a report.

Object with ID `00000000000000000000000002000000` and type 34 (User) is not found in metadata. It may have been deleted.

CAUSE:
The error is caused by an inconsistent state of the metadata. The specific project in question has a Project Lock instance that references to an invalid user object.
 
ACTION:
Follow the steps below to resolve the issue.
        1.     Log into the project using Strategy Developer
        2.     From menu Administration, go to Locking, choose Unlock Project
