KB33579: List of available answers in attribute element prompts always displays in locale of its creator in MicroStrategy 10.x Secure Enterprise Platform

Community Admin

• Strategy

When a user creates an attribute element list prompt in locale A and provides a list of available answers these answers will be persisted with locale A only. Anytime this prompt is used the list of available answers is displayed using locale A regardless of the current session locale.

SYMPTOM
When a user creates an attribute element list prompt in locale A and provides a list of available answers these answers will be persisted with locale A only. Anytime this prompt is used the list of available answers is displayed using locale A regardless of the current session locale.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

  • Log in as User_Locale_A
  • Create a new prompt -> Filter qualification, Choose from a list of attribute elements
  • Qualify on Month of Year attribute
  • Select predefined elements list
  • Save the prompt as P1 and close
  • Create a new report called R1, with this prompt as shortcut in report filter, and metric Revenue in column.
  • Run the report - predefined list of elements are displaying in Locale A as shown below:

  • Log in as User_Locale_B that has locale set to French as shown below:
ka04W000000OgWsQAK_0EM440000002E2j.jpeg
  • Run the report - predefined list of elements are displaying in Locale A instead of Locale B as shown below:

CAUSE
This is working as designed. Predefined elements in the element prompt are saved in the metadata and are fetched initially when User A creates the prompt

ACTION
There is no action to be taken as this is working as designed. If different prompt answers need to be displayed to end users as they belong to different locales, predefined answers should not be provided for the element prompts.
