This Knowledge Base article explains how to find the current month from a prompt date in MicroStrategy Developer 9.x - 11.x

This Article provides step-by-step instructions on how to find the current month from a user selected prompt date in Strategy Tutorial:

  1. Create a date prompt in Developer.
  2. Create a filter.  Drag in the `Day` attribute in the filter.  Qualify on ID, choose the Operator as `Exactly`, and drag the date prompt created in Step1 in the filter definition.

  • Save and close the filter.
  • Create a report. Add the filter to the Report Filter of the report.  Add Month as an attribute and corresponding metric.
  • Run the report.  User will be prompted to enter a date.
  • If for example, the user enters 10/08/08, the report will display the month of October 2008.  No matter what the user chooses, only the specific month will be displayed.
