KB33779: MicroStrategy Mobile iPhone and iPad applications do not work when using a self signed certificate in the MicroStrategy Mobile Server

MicroStrategy Mobile iPhone and iPad applications do not work when using a self signed certificate in the MicroStrategy Mobile Server.

SYMPTOM:
Using Strategy's Mobile iPhone and iPad application 9.x and 10.x through secure SSL, users might notice that the application hangs and does not connect to Strategy. Users will see that the connection to Strategy Mobile failed.
CAUSE:
When the certificate used is not trusted, when accessing Strategy Web using a regular web browser, the user is prompted to accept the certificate. The user can then choose to proceed after the certificate has been accepted. However, the Strategy iPhone or iPad Mobile app does not have a certificate prompt that would allow the user to accept the certificate, therefore the connection fails.
ACTION:
In order to solve this problem a certificate needs to be used that does not require the end users to accept it to allow the connection. Or the certificate needs to be manually installed in the device, which will also prevent the users from having to accept the certificate.
For more information on how to install certificates onto iOS devices, refer to KB39979: How to make MicroStrategy iPhone and iPad applications work when using a self-signed certificate in Web server?.
