• Strategy

The following customization describes how to customize the MicroStrategy Web start page in MicroStrategy 9.4.1 with a pre-defined list of reports or documents that users can select as their default start page without needing to execute the object first.

SUMMARY:
Users have the ability in their preferences to choose a default start page that will display after logging in.  They can also execute a report or document, then choose that report or document to execute upon login. The following customization describes how to customize the Strategy Web start page in Strategy 9.4.1 with a pre-defined list of reports or documents that users can select as their default start page without needing to execute the object first:

  1. Create a .jsp or .aspx  file which executes a Strategy report or document page using the URL API, see sample code below:

    JSP:

    <%

        String redirectURL ="http://localhost:8080/MicroStrategy/servlet/mstrWeb? Server=localhost&Project=Strategy+Tutorial&Port=0&src=mstrWeb.4001&evt=4001 &reportViewMode=1&reportID=01C20BEB479420C7AB019DB9F7219C11";

        response.sendRedirect(redirectURL);

    %>

     ASP:
  2.
    <%

    response.Redirect("http://localhost/MicroStrategy/asp/Main.aspx?Server=localhost&Project=Strategy+Tutorial&Port=0&src=Main.aspx.4001&evt=4001

    &reportViewMode=1&reportID=E3F4135B4474E992681AC2A53C980FB7")

    %>

  3. Duplicate the Desktop page in the customization editor by inheriting the existing page.
  4. Modify the "Default Template File" in the Template Properties for the page to point to the file created in step1, as shown below:

  1. Follow the steps in the following MSDL document to add the new page as one of the start page selections in the Strategy Web user preferences: Web SDK > Customizing Strategy Web > Part I: Fundamentals of Customization > Scenarios: Altering Application Workflow and Navigation > Adding a Custom Page to the List of Default Start Pages and making it the Default Start Page
  2. Repeat steps 1-4 and modify the URL API modify the URL API strings as necessary to add other reports or documents as default start pages.

Each report/document will be added as one drop-down list element of "Default start page" on user preference page, as shown below:
