SUMMARY:
This Technical Note describes how email is delivered when using the ‘Bcc’ and ‘Cc’ fields in the 'Send Email' process within System Manager Workflow. This Technical Note goes over how those fields are limited in functionality or cannot work depending on how System Manager is configured and goes over how to configure System Manager to get it to work as desired.
SYMPTOM:
In the 'Send Email' process within System Manager, user enters recipient(s) email address in the ‘Bcc’ or ‘Cc’ fields, and successfully executes the workflow as shown in figure 1 below. When the email is delivered to the recipient, the recipient’s email address shows in the ‘To’ field instead of in the ‘Bcc’ or ‘Cc’ fields as shown in figure 2 below.

Figure 2: Recipient’s email address shows in the ‘To’ instead of ‘Bcc’
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
Follow these steps to reproduce the issue in a Strategy System Manager.

CAUSE:
The reason for this behavior is the lack of a configured outgoing SMTP server. In order for the emails to be correctly processed and handled a proper email server needs to handle sending the email and verifying the addresses. This is not something integrated into System Manager at this time so requires configuration. Once this is done the SMTP server will accept the request from System Manager and ensure that 'Cc' and 'Bcc' fiels are appropriate handled.
ACTION:
To get the ‘Bcc’ and ‘Cc’ fields to work properly, check the 'Outgoing SMTP Server' option in the 'Send Email' process within System Manager Workflow, and provide the necessary SMTP information.
