Introduction
The startup type for the Strategy Intelligence Server process can be set to manual or automatic. This option can be set from the Strategy Service Manager or from Windows Services.
In general, when the option is selected to manual, the Intelligence Server process should not start up on system restart (reboot) and when set to automatic, the process should start upon system restart.
However, there are a few instances where the process starts upon system restart even upon setting the start up type to manual. This is dependent on whether the Intelligence Server process shut down normally, if Listener service is running and whether or not re-starter is enabled. Various scenarios are given below.
The following scenarios are with the assumption that Strategy Listener Service is running.
Re-starter is enabled
The following grid shows if the Strategy Intelligence Server will be running or stopped upon reboot for the different start up options - manual or automatic and if server shutdown normally or abnormally.
