KB34606: Receive error "LOBs are not allowed to be selected in Record or Indicator modes" when executing a report against a table with CLOB data type in a Teradata database in MicroStrategy Developer 9.4.1

SYMPTOM:
The following error is received when executing a report against a table with a CLOB data type in Teradata from Strategy Developer 9.4.1
 

 
CAUSE:
The Native Large Object Support is not enable correctly in the ODBC driver for a Teradata database.
 
ACTION:
If the ODBC driver to the Teradata database is on a Windows machine, select to edit the ODBC driver, and click on Options:

Check the option "Use Native Large Objects Support" and click OK to save:

If the ODBC driver to the Teradata database is on a non-Windows machine, edit the odbc.ini file, and add
UseNativeLOBSupport=Yes
 
in the Teradata DSN in the odbc.ini and Save the file.
 
Note: Need to disconnect existing cached connections from the ‘Database Connection Monitor’ so that the change applies to new settings. Refer to the documentation in the Strategy 9.x Installation and Configuration Guide (page 527) for more information regarding the option UseNativeLOBSupport.
