This article explains the customization steps needed to display the report title above the grid template in MicroStrategy web version 9.0.1

The customization steps provided would help display the report title above the grid template as shown below in Strategy web version 9.0.1

STEPS:
 
1. Extend the ReportGridTransformImpl class and create a new render method for the report name as shown below,
 
public void renderReportName(MarkupOutput out){
  ReportBean reportBean = getReportBean();
 
  try{ 
  if(reportBean.getDisplayName() != null && reportBean.getDisplayName().length() > 0)
        {
            Tag tag = getTagsFactory().newTag("label");
            tag.addTextChild(reportBean.getDisplayName());
            tag.render(out);
        }
  }catch(Exception e)
  {
   e.printStackTrace();
  }
 }
 
2. In the WebCustomizationEditor click on the ApplicationSettings tab, expand the styles and right click the ReportGridStyle and open it in editor.
 
3. Modify the transform to the CustomTransform created in step 1.
 
4. Click on StyleLayouts and select the Edit Layout button.
 
5. Add the following line above the render grid tag in the layout file as shown below,
 
<mstrlayout:render name="reportName" />
<mstrlayout:render name="grid" />
 
6. Restart the application server.
