KB34858: The autostyle selection window doesn't appear when trying to "open autostyle" from within a report in Desktop after the original profile folder shortcuts have been deleted in MicroStrategy

Stefan Zepeda

Salesforce Solutions Architect • Strategy

This article notes an error that can occur when the my objects folder is deleted and recreated

SYMPTOM:
When selecting the "open autostyle" option within a report, no window appears and no error message is displayed.  The DSSerrors.log file displays the folloring error message.

"Object with ID 'XXXX' and type 8 (Folder) is not found in metadata. It may have been deleted."

CAUSE:
This is issue occurs when the My objects folder is deleted from the metadata.  Upon automatic recreation of the profile folders,  it is assigned a different object ID. However the autostyle editor is still referencing the old folder ID.

This is a known issue for Strategy 10.x

ACTION:
Currently this issue is being reviewed by Strategy for a potential code fix on an upcoming Strategy release.

WORKAROUND:
The workaround is to create a fresh project and then migrate the appropriate folder objects from the new environment to the old environment using Strategy Object Manager.
