KB34940: Why MicroStrategy Intelligence Server is shown as ‘inoperative’ in AIX environment?

Why MicroStrategy Intelligence Server is shown as ‘inoperative’ in AIX environment?

When users run “lssrc -a” command to list the status of all subsystems in AIX, a response is shown similar to the one below:

ka04W000000OhaXQAS_0EM440000002Aks.png

In this case, the System Resource Controller will show all the instances of the registered subsystems. This could happen if the server was previously registered and never unregistered or if the server was registered within a previous installation.

Users can use System Resource Controller commands (i.e. “rmsys -s <subsystem name>”) to remove the service or they can leave it there. These kind of entries are harmless.

However, it is important to mention that users should see an active entry like:

mstr-root@2010-12~6CC46E04 mstr             630918       active

to make sure that Intelligence Server is running properly. Refer to technote “KB13000 (KB5300-75x-0715): How to register Strategy Intelligence Server Universal 8.1.x and later as a service?” in order to get additional details to register the Intelligence Server.
