-New-Feature-in-MicroStrategy-9-0-2-Perform-System-Object

System Objects are the out of the box objects that are automatically created in the metadata when user first creates a project. Prior to Strategy 9.0.2, System Objects were created with random object IDs (GUIDs).

In Strategy 9.0.2, the Configuration Wizard introduces a new upgrade option at the project level which allows the user to Perform a System Object ID Unification. Performing this update will replace the existing GUIDs of System Objects with fixed IDs so all Strategy metadatas use a unified structure.

NOTES:

  • It is required to perform System Object ID Unification if user intends to move objects between unrelated projects (project with different schemas) using Strategy Object Manager.
  • As of Strategy 9.0.2 upgrading a pre-9.0.1 metadata to 9.0.2 results in the default execution of the System Object ID Unification.  Users can only choose to skip the System Object ID Unification option if they are updating a 9.0.1 project. Refer to the following technical notes for more details.
KB34570 -- System Object ID Unification is performed even though the option is unchecked when upgrading a project from version 8.1.x to 9.0.2 through Strategy Configuration Wizard
  • In subsequent releases, it is the intention of the platform to execute the System Object ID Unification on all Strategy metadata versions.
