KB35079: "Unlimited" setting for Maximum memory consumption for Excel files value in MicroStrategy Intelligence Server

"Unlimited" setting for Maximum memory consumption for Excel files value in MicroStrategy Intelligence Server

When users try to export a large report to Microsoft Excel using Strategy, they might get the following error:

'Unable to generate complete results due to the memory governing limit for Excel exporting. Partial results have been returned.'

To alleviate this, users can change the Maximum memory consumption for Excel files setting in Strategy Desktop as mentioned in KB12795: ‘Unable to generate complete results due to the memory governing limit for Excel exporting. Partial results have been returned’ message appears when exporting a large report from MicroStrategy Web 9.x to Excel

The maximum memory allowed in this governing setting is 2047 MB. This limit is set by the Strategy Developer interface. If the user tries to enter a value greater than 2047MB, Strategy Developer will automatically change it to 2047. However, some users may need additional memory to export large Excel reports.

To remove the governing limit entirely, this governing setting can be set to "-1".
