SYMPTOM:
The entry "Max memory ####KB allowed for cache lkup table has been reached, cannot add new entry" is seen in the Report Server -> Cache Trace log (if enabled) when sending reports to cache in Strategy Intelligence Server 9.x and newer. In the cache monitor in Strategy Desktop, either no new cache is seen as created, or if the report was sent to history, the cache appears as of type "History" only rather than "Matching, History".
CAUSE:
Starting in Strategy 9.0.2, the size of the cache lookup table is dependent on the Maximum RAM usage (MBytes) setting located under Project Configuration > Caching > Result Caches > Storage > Memory Storage > Datasets (as shown below).

The default value of the Maximum RAM usage setting is 50MB. The size of the cache lookup table is 1/3 the value of the Maximum RAM usage setting (therefore 17.3 MB by default). When this cache lookup table size is reached, reports cannot be cached.
ACTION:
Increase the maximum memory that can be used by report caches. Increasing the maximum RAM for report caches will increase the memory available to store the lookup tables.
It is possible that users run into the same error after few days of operation (new caches created with different prompt answers etc). At that time, it will be necessary to increase the above setting again. In some cases, another setting that would have impact on the cache lookup table size is the Intelligence Server - "Cache Lookup Cleanup Frequency" configuration setting. This setting is helpful particularly in cases where caches are being expired, invalidated on a daily basis. By default this setting is set to '0' - i.e. cleanup the lookup tables only on shutdown. This setting could be set to run the cleanup once a day (86400 seconds) or more frequently as needed.
