How to alter metric dimensionality in MicroStrategy Command Manager 9.x

It is possible to use Command Manager 9.x outline to alter the metric dimensionality. While specifying the filtering and grouping condition, please refer to the metric dimensionality symbols guide in KB7952

An example in Strategy Tutorial:

  • Create a new metric "Test DIM 2" in the Public Objects\Metrics\Count Metrics folder with the following definition: Count(Customer) {~+}
  • In the Command Manager, use the syntax below to alter the metric definition. The metric "Test DIM 2" is to have the Customer hierarchy in the dimensionality with the filtering set as "absolute" and grouping as "beginning (lookup)"

ALTER METRIC "Test DIM 2" IN FOLDER "\Public Objects\Metrics\Count Metrics" EXPRESSION "Count(Customer) {<[\SCHEMA Objects\HIERARCHIES\DATA Explorer\Customers]*} " FOR PROJECT "Strategy Tutorial";

Upon completion of this Command Manager script, the metric's definition can be observed from Strategy Developer as:
