KB35287: The ESRI map isn't rendered when the esriConfig.xml file contains an XML comment in MicroStrategy Web

SYMPTOM:
In Strategy Web 9.4.x-10.x, the ESRI map isn’t rendered when the esriConfig.xml file contains an XML comment.
 
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
Follow the steps below to reproduce this issue with Strategy Tutorial Project:

• Refer to the following technical note to deploy the ESRI plugin:
  KB45064: How to activate cloud-based ESRI maps for MicroStrategy Web products 
• Run the dashboard with ESRI map, it is rendered correctly, as shown below:
  

• Replace the following lines in esriConfig.xml file

• Restart the web server to apply the changes.
• Run the report again in Strategy Web, note that the ESRI map isn’t rendered anymore, as shown below:
   
  

CAUSE:
This is known issue in Strategy Web 9.4.x.-10.x
 
ACTION:
Strategy will continue to investigate and post updates as soon as they are available.
 
WORKAROUND:
Remove the XML comments from esriConfig.xml file.
