Users receive a Job Expired error and duplicate user connections are seen when executing a Report Services document in MicroStrategy Web 9.0.x."

SYMPTOM:
A user executing a document in Strategy Web 9.0.x receives the following error:

ka04W000000OfqEQAS_0EM440000002Wfr.png

"Job Expired. The results for this document are no longer available.
Please submit the request again"

Additionally, when examining the user connection monitor in Strategy Desktop, the administrator will see duplicate user connections at the time the job expired message is seen in Web.

CAUSE:
A possible cause for this issue is the web server is losing the connection information with the client machine.  Every time a request is made, the Intelligence Server thinks that a new user is trying to access the system, and creates another user connection instead of re-using the existing connection.  This build up continues until eventually all requests made by the user will fail with the error, as the Intelligence Server does not know which user connection to send the request information through.

ACTION:
The issue can be resolved by changing the Maximum Worker Processes to “1”.   The StrategyWebPool Application pool will then use only one worker process to send client user information to the Intelligence Server.
Steps:

  1. Go to Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Internet Information Services Manager
  2. Expand the “Server Name”
  3. Click “Application Pools”
  4. Click “StrategyWebPool”
  5. Click “Advanced Settings”
  6. Change the “Maximum Workers Process” value to “1”
