• Strategy

This technical note describes a known issue in MicroStrategy Web 9.0.2 where the out of the box US Map widget will display the mouseover tooltip far away from the mouse cursor. This issue has been fixed in MicroStrategy Web 9.3.0 and up. Upgrade to take advantage of the fix.

SYMPTOM:
In Strategy Web 9.0.2, the US Map is provided as an out of the box widget.  However, when mousing over the features on the widget, the tooltip will display far away from the cursor.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
The following steps will reproduce the issue in the Strategy Tutorial project:

  • Create a report based on Customer State and Revenue.
  • Use that report as a dataset for a document.
  • Apply the US Map widget for display in Flash mode.
  • Switch to Flash mode and mouseover any state.
  • Notice the distance between the mouse cursor and the recently appeared tooltip.  The cursor is positioned in the northern side of California:

CAUSE:

ACTION:
This issue has been addressed in Strategy Web 9.3.0. Update to this version of Strategy to take advantage of the fix.
WORKAROUND:
If the zoom mode is switched from "Fit Width" to "100%", the tooltip will display closer, as in the image below:
