KB36312: Error “System.IO.FileNotFoundException: The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRSULT: 0x8007007E)” appears when accessing MicroStrategy Web

SYMPTOM:
 
When accessing Strategy Web 9.x on IIS web server, the following error occurs:

System.IO.FileNotFoundException: The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRSULT: 0x8007007E)
 
CAUSE:
 
An exception happened in IIS, that prevents the module from being loaded, so the IIS worker process fails to start. All of this happens even before reaching the Strategy Web application.
 
ACTION:
 
Since this is an IIS issue, contact Microsoft support for more guidance. 
 
WORKAROUND:
 
Follow either of the following workarounds to access Strategy Web:

1. Use other web server instead of IIS, such as Tomcat, WebLogic etc.
2. Do a reinstall of the underlying Microsoft Operating System.
