SUMMARY:
By default, the Strategy Intelligence Server writes information selected to be logged to a file named DSSErrors.log. The default configuration is to retain a single backup of this log, which rolls over as the size of the log reaches the maximum limit. This Knowledge Base article will explain how to use the Strategy Control Utility, mstrctl, from the command line to change how many backup files are retained.
ACTION:
In order to check the current settings on a machine, use Strategy Control Utility to get-server-configuration (gsc) by using the following command:
Php ./mstrctl -s IntelligenceServer gsc | less
Php <?xml version="1.0"?> <configuration> <base_tcp_port_number>34952</base_tcp_port_number> <log_path>/opt/MicroStrategy/Log</log_path> <install_path>/opt/MicroStrategy/Install/IntelligenceServer</install_path> <log_destinations> <log_destination n="SystemLog" tp="2" callstack_message_ids="0x800438C7"/> <log_destination n="ServerControl" tp="3" max_size="2048" max_backup="1" callstack_message_ids=""/> <log_destination n="LicenseSummary" tp="3" max_size="4000" callstack_message_ids=""/> <log_destination n="DebugOutput" tp="1" callstack_message_ids=""/> <log_destination n="DSSPerformanceMonitor" tp="4" max_size="2000" callstack_message_ids=""/> <log_destination n="DSSErrors" tp="3" max_size="2048" max_backup="1" callstack_message_ids="0x800438C7"/> </log_destinations>
Php <log_destination n="DSSErrors" tp="3" max_size="2048" max_backup="1" callstack_message_ids="0x800438C7"/>
Php ./mstrctl -s IntelligenceServer ssc
Php <configuration> <log_destinations> <log_destination n="DSSErrors" tp="3" max_size="2048" max_backup="5" callstack_message_ids="0x800438C7"/> </log_destinations> </configuration>
