When a 'Refresh Cube' or 'Cache Update' subscription is created with a delivery notification in MicroStrategy 10.x, the notification will only be received if the subscription is successful, not if it fails.

SYMPTOM:
When a 'Refresh Cube' or 'Cache Update' subscription is created in Strategy 10.x, There is an option to send a delivery notification email when the cache update is complete:

When the subscription is executed, and it succeeds, an email with the following subject will be received:

Sample Code/Error
Success, Cache update notification: Report - Test Cube

However, if the subscription fails, no email will be received.

CAUSE:
This occurs because failure notifications for cache deliveries have not been configured.

ACTION:
In order to configure Strategy to send notification emails for cache update failure, as well as success, take the following steps:

  1. Open Project Configuration > Deliveries > Cache > Email notification
  2. Make sure that the ‘Enable email notification to administrator for failed cache creation’ option is checked, and that an email address has been entered. The other checkboxes can be selected or deselected depending on the information to be included in the notification email.
