"Network: Failure to communicate with MicroStrategy Intelligence error" error occurs when MicroStrategy Enterprise Manager 9.x is installed on the same machine as the MicroStrategy Intelligence Server 9.x

SYMPTOM:
With Strategy Enterprise Manager 9.x installed on the same machine as the Strategy Intelligence Server 9.x, the DSSErrors logs gets filled with the following error message:

DATE TIME Network: Failure to communicate with Strategy Intelligence Server.

CAUSE:
A past scheduled Strategy Enterprise Manager 9.x data load may still be running in the background causing the current one to fail. Checking task manager should confirm this if the following processes are running:

  • MAEMETL.exe
  • MAEMETLS.exe

ACTION:
Check the MSTRMigration log to confirm if the currently running data load is still successfully running, and if so wait until it completes. If it appears to be hung terminate the MAEMETL.exe and MAEMETLS.exe processes then start a fresh data load.
