• Strategy

SYMPTOM:
When running a report in Strategy Developer, one of the following errors appear:

Error: The QueryEngine encountered error: Call SQLExecDirect got error SQL_ERROR
 Line 8:
Incorrect syntax near '####'.

Error in Process method of Component: QueryEngineServer, Project 0, Job 70, Error
Code= -2147212544.

Error: The QueryEngine encountered error: Call SQLExecDirect got error SQL_ERROR
 Column
or parameter #1: Cannot find data type LONG.

Error in Process method of Component: QueryEngineServer, Project 0, Job 64, Error
Code= -2147212544.

CAUSE:
One possible cause of the issue is that the database instance objects are not assigned the correct database type. As a result, the generated SQL contains syntax or datatypes that are not recognized by the target database.

ACTION:

  1. In Strategy Developer, go to Database Instance Manager.
  2. Select the database instance for this project.
  3. Edit this instance in the General tab.
  4. Select the correct warehouse database type in the 'Database connection type' box.
  5. Restart the Strategy Intelligence Server (if using 3-tier mode) or disconnect and re-connect to the project source in Strategy Developer (if using 2-tier mode), for the setting change to take effect.
