KB37087: With 'Use Search Editor' privilege assigned to a user/group through a Security Role, the user/group is unable to see the "Search for Configuration Objects" feature in MicroStrategy Developer 9.4.x-10.x

SYMPTOM
When the 'Use Search Editor' privilege is assigned to a user/group through a Security Role, the user/group is unable to see the "Search for Configuration Objects" feature in Strategy Developer 9.4.x-10.x.
 
 
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Execute the following in Strategy Tutorial:

1. Create a security role which has amongst other Desktop Analyst and Desktop Designer privileges, 'Use Search Editor" privilege assigned (Desktop Analyst), as well as 'Administration' privileges, minus 'Bypass all object security checks' privilege.
2. Assign this security role to a user/group.
3. Log in as this user. When a rmc is done on User Manager, 'Search for Configuration Objects' feature is not displayed.

 
 
 
CAUSE:
This is a known issue in Strategy Desktop 9.0.x and 9.2.x.
 
ACTION:
Strategy will continue to investigate and post updates as soon as they are available.
 
WORKAROUND
Log in as Administrator, and for this user/group check the box for this privilege.  When the user logs in now, 'Search for Configuration Objects' is displayed.
