KB37231: Cross joins are generated in the MDX for reports based of MDX data sources in MicroStrategy 9.x-10.x

Community Admin

• Strategy

When running a report from a MDX data source  in Strategy 9.x-10.x, users may notice cross joins present in the MDX generated by Strategy
This is expected behavior in Strategy Desktop 9.x. Crossjoins are a necessary function for creating axes in MDX statements. Whenever there are elements from more than one dimension in a query, there will always be a crossjoin to combine the elements from those dimensions.
CROSSJOIN and * are equivalent when handling MDX reports.
