KB37276: "The wizard cannot continue because of the following error: Invalid command line option: console is not supported (1001)" error occurs when running setup.bin on an AIX system

This Knowledge Base document explains that an error "Invalid command line option: console is not supported (1001)" may occur when running setup.bin on an AIX system and not using the root account.

SYMPTOM:
When installing Strategy 9.x on an AIX machine using the the command ./setupAIX.bin -console, the following error is seen:


The wizard cannot continue because of the following error: Invalid command line option: console is not supported (1001) (403)
WARNING: could not delete temporary file /tmp/ismp025/7598798

CAUSE:
One of the causes of this issue is that the license key used is CPU based and Strategy is not being installed with the root account.

ACTION:
Ensure that the Strategy is installed using the root account with CPU based license keys.
