KB37283: Excessive memory usage from a single report request which exceeds the "Maximum single allocation size" governing setting

Stefan Zepeda

Salesforce Solutions Architect • Strategy

SYMPTOM:
Executing a single report causes excessive memory usage beyond the current governing settings.  It can be observed that the memory usage from the execution of the single report is much higher than the memory allowed for a single report request from the “Maximum single allocation size” memory governing setting in “Intelligence Server Configuration > Governing > Memory settings”

CAUSE:
One possible cause of this issue is multiple page-bys adding dimensionality to the report.  This added dimensionality will not be controlled by the existing governing setting.
Currently the Memory Contract Manager does not have the specific Governing Setting that governs the max memory used by Analytical Engine PU.

ACTION:
Limit the amount of dimensionality on a report be reducing the number of page-bys to an acceptable number.
