Sample Code/Error

An error has occurred on this page. Your request could not be processed due to a server error.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Follow these steps to reproduce in a Strategy Tutorial project.

    • Create a new report with Item and Revenue.  Save as "Item Report".
    • Add an element prompt on Item to the filter and save as a new report "Item - prompted report".
    • Create a Report Services Document using "Item Report" as dataset.
    • Add {Item@ID} and {Item@DESC} as two dynamic text boxes to the Detail section of the document.

  • Right click on text field for Item@ID and choose Edit Links.
  • Select "Run this report or document" and browse to "Item - prompted report" created in step 2.
  • For the Item prompt, choose "Answer dynamically" and click OK to save the changes.
  • Save and run the document to get the error.

CAUSE
This is a known issue in Strategy Web 9.x caused by a combination of 3 factors:

  1. One or more elements returned by the Item attribute contain a double quotes character:

    Sample Code/Error

    "

  2. The Edit Links feature has been set to answer a prompt dynamically
  3. The Edit Links feature has been set on a textbox located at the Detail section of the document.

If one of these factors is not met, the document will actually execute correctly.
ACTION
Contact Strategy Technical Support for an update on this issue.
WORKAROUND
If possible, remove the dynamic text boxes in the Detail section and add the grid to the Detail Header section to link from the grid instead and the document will execute.

Or, remove any double quotes characters directly from the warehouse elements.
