KB37519: Only one recipient is displayed in To field of the received email when there are many recipients in an email subscription in MicroStrategy Distribution Services

Community Admin

• Strategy

In MicroStrategy Distribution Services, when sending a report to many users in an email subscription, only one user itself is displayed in the received email.

SYMPTOM:
In Strategy Distribution Services 9.x, when sending a report to many users in an email subscription, only one user itself is displayed in the received email.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
Follow steps below to reproduce the issue in Strategy Tutorial project:

NOTE: In the above example, Strategy user Brian Kelt's email address is the mail server user Zhu, Junhua's email address. So this email address is resolved as the user name by the mail server.

  • In Strategy Web 9.x, run a report and then go to Home > Subscribe to > Email.
  • Select multiple users as recipients. See below screenshot:

  • When the users receive the email, only the user (recipient) itself is displayed in To field of the received email instead of the larger list. See below screenshot:

CAUSE:
This is working as designed. In Strategy Distribution Services 9.x, only the user who receives the email is displayed in the To field.

ACTION:
Upgrade to Strategy 2020 to resolve this issue.
