KB37737: How to find out the dependencies between objects by running sql directly against the metadata in MicroStrategy DB Query Tool?

Stefan Zepeda

Salesforce Solutions Architect • Strategy

While trouble shooting cases, sometimes it is helpful to find out the dependencies between objects by running sql directly against the metadata in Strategy DB Query Tool.

For example:

  • Some objects' dependencies cannot be searched or do not appear through Desktop, like a Database Instance.
  • Or some dependencies cannot be searched from Desktop due to metadata Inconsistency issues or defects in the platform.

Run following sql against customer's MD to find out the objects that have dependencies on object XXX:
Sql
SELECT * FROM prefixDSSMDOBJDEPN where DEPN_OBJID='XXX GUID'

Alternatively, you can run the following statement to obtain the objects that object YYY point to:
Sql
SELECT * FROM prefixDSSMDOBJDEPN where OBJECT_ID='YYY GUID'
