In MicroStrategy Developer 10.x incorrect values that are formatted as a date xx/xx/xxxx are returned for a metric used to subtract two timestamp values

SYMPTOM:
In Strategy Developer 10.x incorrect values that are formatted as a date xx/xx/xxxx are returned for a metric used to subtract two timestamp values as shown in the example below.

Note: Users are also unable to change the format of the subtraction derived metric
  
 
CAUSE:
This is a known issue in Strategy 10.x
 
 
ACTION:
Strategy will continue to investigate and post updates as soon as they are available.
 
 
WORKAROUND:

  •  Use a non-derived metric with an ApplySimple in conjunction with the datediff function
  • Use a non-derived metric to calculate max(date1)-max(date2)
