SYMPTOM:
Error "404: not found" appears in the Strategy Mobile iOS app log when trying authenticate against the Strategy Mobile Server 9.x (see image below) while similar URL API authenticates successfully in the browser.

URL triggered in Strategy Mobile iOS App:
http://ServerName/MicroStrategyMobile/asp/Mobile.aspx?action=executeTask&taskParams=taskEnv%3Dxml%26taskId%3DmobileLogin%26server%3I-ServerName%26project%3DMobileQuickStrike%26userid%3Domitted%26password%3Domitted%26port%3D0%26authMode%3D1%26metadataLocale%3Den%26displayLocale%3Den%26messagesLocale%3Den%26numberLocale%3Dde_AT%26numberLocaleOverride%3Dtrue%26warehouseDataLocale%3Den%26timeZone%3DEurope%2FVienna%26wsSize%3D10%26clientVersion%3D9.2.202.063%26clientType%3D2
CAUSE:
This issue is not a Strategy issue. This issue happens due to a redirect that client is required to perform. When triggering the similar url in the browser, the specified web server name is redirected to a different web server name. Strategy Mobile App does not support redirect.
For example, in this environment, the selected URL returned HTTP 302 (which is the most common way of performing a redirection) and it is redirect to a different URL that starts with a different web server name.

Refer this article for more information on HTTP 302: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_302
ACTION:
In the Strategy Mobile Server configuration, use the redirected server name as the Mobile Server Name. In the example above, the Mobile Server Name should be 'mstat'
