KB38253: How does Maximum RAM usage (MBytes) and Maximum RAM for cache index (%) work for report caching?

Datasets- The Maximum RAM usage (MBytes): This sets the amount of memory a project can use for dataset caches.

Datasets- The Maximum RAM usage (MBytes): This sets the amount of memory a project can use for dataset caches.

Formatted Documents- The Maximum RAM usage (MBytes): This sets the amount of memory a project can use for document caches.

The Maximum RAM for cache index (%): This sets the amount of memory that can be used for the cache lookup and pool files.  Datasets and documents each have their own set of lookup and pool files.  This setting covers the total memory for both dataset and document lookup and pool files.  The setting is calculated by taking the percentage set and multiplying it by the Maximum RAM usage for dataset caches.  The Formatted Documents Maximum RAM usage has no effect on the memory for lookup and pool files.

The screenshot below shows the setting being discussed. To get to these settings Open Strategy Desktop and right click a project.

Example:

Datasets-Maximum RAM usage(MBytes) = 50

Formatted Documents- The Maximum RAM usage (MBytes): 250

Maximum RAM for cache index (%)= 90%

Maximum RAM for cache index (MBytes)= 50 x 0.9 = 45

Total RAM used for caching in this project= 50 + 250 +45= 345MBytes.
