KB38267: "Client found response content type of “, but expected “text/xml”. The request failed with an empty response" error message is encountered when trying to go into Options in MicroStrategy Office 10.x

SYMPTOM:
The following error is encountered when opening the Options menu in Strategy Office 10.x:

 
 
Client found response content type of ", but expected 'text/xml'. The request failed with an empty response.
 
Hit OK and the below error is seen:

 
Properties could not be retrieved from Web Services at 'http://.....'. Do you want to connect to a different Web Services URL?
 
ACTION:
In order to resolve this error, follow the steps below:

• Open IIS -> Authentication.
• Disable the option for ‘ASP.NET Impersonation’.
  
  

• Restart IIS.
