KB38411: "Out of string space" error message appears when delivering a large report in CSV or Text format in MicroStrategy Narrowcast Server 9.2.1

SYMPTOM:
When delivering a large report in CSV or Text format in Strategy Narrowcast Server 9.x - 10.x, the following error message appears in the Delivery Engine log:

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
Follow these steps to reproduce this issue with Strategy Tutorial project 10.4:

1. Create a report with attribute Day and Item on the row, and add any 14 metrics under Sales Metrics folder on the column.
2. Create a report filter on attribute year in list of 2014 and 2015.
   
3. Run the report and notice that the row count is around 197K with 14 columns.
   
4. Create a Narrowcast service with this report sending as plaintext attachment, choosing MSTR7ToText-CSV as the XSL stylesheet from Document Element.
   
5. Run the service and notice that "Out of string space" error is encountered. The delivery is not successful due to the error.
   
6. Copy the same report and filter on Month for only January through March 2015.
   
7. Run the report and notice that there are around 24K row count with 14 columns.
   
8. Create a service based on this new report and run it.
   
9. Notice that there are no errors shown up and the report is saved to file successfully. 
   

 
CAUSE:
This issue occurs due to a Visual Basic limitation.
 
WORKAROUND:
One workaround would be to use Distribution Services to deliver the large report.
