Sharity is a third-party application that allows the mounting of Windows UNC (Universal Naming Convention) paths on a UNIX machine. It facilitates the delivery of files from an Intelligence Server running in UNIX/Linux to a Windows file server. For additional information on Sharity setup and configuration, refer to the following Strategy Knowledge Base Document:
KB36183: How to deliver files generated through Distribution Services from an Intelligence Server running in UNIX/Linux to a Windows file server in Strategy 9.2.0
When installing Sharity, the user is prompted to choose a directory where the "Network Browser" is mounted. The default choice is /CIFS. CIFS stands for Common Internet File System. The /CIFS directory serves the same purpose as "Network Neighborhood" does in Windows. Along with being the entry point for browsing the network, the /CIFS directory also allows the user to automatically mount a network share path if the name of the server and shared directory is known. However, choosing the default /CIFS directory can severely degrade system performance as it searches for network neighbors and cause the system to hang.
Strategy recommends disabling /CIFS during Sharity installation. When installing Sharity, the user is prompted to specify a "NETWORK BROWSING DIRECTORY":

Where do you want to mount this browser? If you don't want the browser, answer none (without the quotes). --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Default answer: /CIFS
