KB38992: Silent install of MicroStrategy fails with 'ResultCode=-5' recorded in install.log file

SYMPTOM

When trying to execute a silent install of Strategy 9.x and later, the installation does not complete successfully. The following entry is recorded in the install.log file:

Version=v7.00

File=Log File

ResultCode=-5

CAUSE

In this case, the 'ResultCode=-5' corresponds to an error of 'File does not exist'. When executing the command for a silent install, the user must specify the name and location of a setup.iss file. If the file name or path is incorrect, the installation will fail with the 'ResultCode=-5'.
 
 

ACTION

Ensure that the silent install command is executed with the correct path and filename of the setup.iss file.
