SYMPTOM:
 
In Strategy Web, data does not aggregate properly when using the "Use First" and "Use Last" options of 'Current State' setting in slice selectors. If the selector is used as a filter,the data aggregates properly but the "Use First" and "Use Last" options disappear.
 
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
 
In Strategy Tutorial:

• Create a grid report with Region attribute and Revenue metric, and enable Totals
• Create a document and insert above report as dataset, as well as a Region attribute checkbox selector and target grid report
• Make sure that the "Apply selections as a filter" option is checked and execute the document: you will see that the data displays and aggregates properly
  
  

• Edit the selector and uncheck the "Apply selections as a filter", check "Show Option for Total" and select "Use First" or "Use Last" option and click Ok
  
  

• Execute the document and you will see it will display the first element ('Central')
  
  

• Select other Regions and 'Total': you will see that the data does not aggregate properly and Total reflects the total for all Regions, not just those selected
  
  

CAUSE:
 
This is normal behavior and the selectors are working as designed. The "Use First" and "Use Last" options of 'Current State' are only designed to work with slice selectors and not with filter selectors, and that is why they disappear when "Apply selections as a filter" is checked. 
 
ACTION:
User will have to choose between utilizing the aggregation functionality (using filter selectors and checking Apply selections as a filter" option) and the ability to use"Use First" and "Use Last" options (using slicing selectors).
