KB39507: Drill paths are not sorted as defined in Project Drill Map in MicroStrategy Web

Community Admin

• Strategy

SYMPTOM
Administrators can define project drill map to allow users to drill down, across, and/or up on all attributes. The order of the elements can be specified by the administrators. This increases flexibility and personalization for the users accessing this project. An issue exists where the elements will be sorted differently than the way specified in the project drill map in Strategy Web.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

  • Create a custom  Drill Map and set a random order of the four Strategy Tutorial heirarchies. In this case - Time, Products, Georgrpahy, and Customers.

  • Save it and assign it to a specific project.
  • Create a report with one attribute and excute it.
  • Execute the report and right-click on the attribute and go to Drill > Other directions. Note the order of the drill paths:

  • Save the report and perform the same action from Web. Notice the result below:

NOTE: The Project Defaults web preference for Drilling - "Sort drill paths and set names alphabetically" is disabled. If enabled, the elements will be properly arranaged in alphabetical order:
