• Strategy

Using the Web Customizations Editor, it is possible to make the Starburst Icon redirect to an external link.

Using the Web Customizations Editor, it is possible to make the Starburst Icon redirect to an external link.

Customization steps:

  1. Create a new page by right clicking on the "Page" folder and selecting "New Empty Page".
  2. Create a jsp file that will perform the redirect action and place it within the jsp folder of the current plugin. The required contents of this file is written below:

    <%@page contentType="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" %>
    <%
         response.sendRedirect("https://www.google.com");
    %>

  3. Double click on the page created in step 1, open up the template properties tab, and change the Template File to point to the .JSP file created in step 2.
  4. Locate the logo.jsp file within the /jsp/ folder of the Web Application.
  5. Make a copy of the logo.jsp and place it within the jsp folder of the current plugin.
  6. Replace:

    <web:urlEvent includeState="false" eventID="com.Strategy.web.app.beans.EnumServletEvents.WebEventOpenHome" linkAttributes ="id='mstrStarburst'" titleID="mstrWeb.37">

    with

    <%--mstrWeb Starburst --%>
    <web:urlEvent includeState="false" eventID="com.Strategy.web.app.beans.EnumServletEvents.WebEventOpenPage" linkAttributes="id='mstrStarburst'" titleID="mstrWeb.37">
    <web:eventArgument name="com.Strategy.web.app.beans.EnumServletEvents.WebEventArgumentTarget" value="redirectPage"/>

    Note: the value of the eventArgument must match the name of the page created in step 1.

  7. For all pages that require this customization, double click on the Page > Template Properties > right click the path section >select " edit current file" > Change the include statement to "<%@include file='/plugins/"PLUGINNAME"/jsp/Logo.jsp' %>" where "PLUGINNAME" is the name of the current plugin.

Clicking the Starburst icon will now redirect the user to the URL specified in the created jsp file.

PREREQUISITES:
For the sample to work, the Strategy Web JAR files must be accessible by the Java Runtime
Environment. The Strategy Web JAR files can be found under:

  • Strategy Web Universal (JSP): {web_root}/WEB-INF/lib directory.
  • Strategy Web (.NET): Program Files\Common Files\Strategy directory.

Note:
More elaborate programs will require additional library files and are out of the scope of this document.
