KB39602: Duplicate attribute forms show up for the same attribute in the Report Objects window in MicroStrategy Developer 9.2.1 - 10.x

Stefan Zepeda

Salesforce Solutions Architect • Strategy

SYMPTOM:

Users might observe that when an attribute with a compound form is added to a report in Strategy Developer 9.2.1 - 10.x, the Report Objects window shows the same attribute form multiple times, as shown:

In the above example,  the 'Store ID' form shows up twice. However, on editing the attribute, this form appears only once as expected.

CAUSE:

One possible cause of this behavior is that there are duplicated attribute forms created for the attribute, even if the Attribute Editor in Strategy Developer 9.2.1 - 10.x shows only one of those forms.

This is a known metadata inconsistency in Strategy 9.2.1 - 10.x. In order to track down the cause of this inconsistency, customers encountering this issue should make note of Schema/Application-related changes, Object Migrations or error messages prior to experiencing the problem. Change Journaling, if enabled, can help in preserving this information.

ACTION:

This is a known issue that Strategy continues to investigate.
