KB39603: "Specified driver could not be loaded" error is received when attempting to connect to a Netezza warehouse from MicroStrategy Intelligence Server Universal 9.x.

"Specified driver could not be loaded" error is received when attempting to connect to a Netezza warehouse from MicroStrategy Intelligence Server Universal 9.x.

SYMPTOM
The following error is received when users attempt to connect to a Netezza warehouse from a Strategy Intelligence Server Universal 9.x machine. The same error is received on Strategy DB Query and when Intelligence Server 9.x. attempts to connect to the database.

Sample Code/Error

Connect failed. Error type: Odbc error. Odbc operation attempted: SQLDriverConnect......... Specified driver could not be loaded.

It is verified the odbc.ini and odbcinst.ini have been setup correctly as per the location of the installed 32-bit ODBC driver.

Note: HP-UX is in the only supported UNIX platform for Strategy Intelligence Server Universal 9.x. where 64-bit drivers can be used.

CAUSE
A possible cause for this issue is that the driver library could not be loaded by the operating system because some of the system libraries the driver library depends on, are missing from the operating system.

Run the command ldd on the driver library to get a list of libraries the driver library depends on and to see if any of these are missing.

ACTION
Ensure that 32-bit version of the missing libraries (libraries on which the driver library is dependent) are installed on the operating system.
