KB39665: The Metric column is still present after enabling "Remove Extra Column" for reports with the metrics on the rows and no objects on the columns in MicroStrategy Web

SYMPTOM:
When a user enables the 'Remove Extra Column' option for a grid in a document with the metrics on the rows and no objects on the column, the undesired column will be removed for PDF exports but not for Strategy Web 9.4.1 and above.
 

 
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

• Create a report with only a metric on the rows. Ensure the 'Remove Extra Column' option is checked, as shown below.
  

• Create a document from this report.
• Execute the document. Notice the 'Metrics' column is present
• Export to PDF. Notice the 'Metrics' column has disappeared.

 
Below is a screenshot of Strategy Web and the PDF export when the 'Remove Extra Column' is checked, notice the top portion of the screenshot contains the word 'Metrics'.

CAUSE:
This is working as designed in Strategy Web, the incorrect behavior is in the PDF export. When the metrics are on the rows, the "Metrics" title isn't an extra column, thus shouldn't be removed. The fact that it is removed in the PDF export is a known issue in Strategy Web.
 
ACTION:
This issue has not been scoped for a future Strategy release. Strategy will continue to investigate and post updates as soon as they are available.
