KB39786: How to pre-set a list of Intelligence Servers the Web Server has to be connected to in MicroStrategy

Community Admin

• Strategy

When multiple environments are being deployed, the administrators might want to pre-set them to connect to a specific list of Intelligence Server without going to the Web Admin page. This could be achieved by modifying the AdminServers.xml and sys_definitions_IntelligenceServerName.properties files.

SYMPTOM

When multiple environments are being deployed, the administrators might want to pre-set them to connect to a specific list of Intelligence Server without going to the Web Admin page. This could be achieved by modifying the AdminServers.xml and sys_definitions_IntelligenceServerName.properties files.

ACTION

  1. Create a file called 'AdminServers.xml' with syntax:

    XML Syntax
    <servers version="1.0">
      <server conn="true" name="IntelligenceServer-Name"/>
    </servers>

    Note: add a new <server> tag for every Strategy Intelligence Server.
  2. Create a file called 'sys_defaults_IntelligenceServer-Name.properties' with syntax:

    XML Syntax
    #
    #Tue Apr 03 13:28:33 EDT 2012
    showLoginPageAfterLogout=false
    connectmode=auto

    Note: When the connect mode is set to auto, the Intelligence Server will connect to the Web Server automatically. Otherwise, set it to 'manual' and it will have to be manually connected.
    Note: A new properties file has to be created for each Intelligence Server specified in Step 1.
  3. Save the files and copy/paste them to: \MicroStrategy\Web ASPx\WEB-INF\xml.
  4. Restart the application Server and notice the Web Server will be connected to the pointed Intelligence Servers.
