KB39870: When performing a "Search for Dependents" search action on a table in MicroStrategy, transformation objects are not listed

Stefan Zepeda

Salesforce Solutions Architect • Strategy

This article notes how search for dependents does not work with transformations

SYMPTOM:
When performing a "Search for Dependents" search action on a table in Strategy, transformation objects are not shown as dependents. These table objects can then be deleted from the Strategy environment and leave these Transformation objects with invalid references. Typically, if a dependent is found the object cannot be deleted until this dependency is removed.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. In Strategy Tutorial, create a new transformation object
  2. Set the transformation attribute to Year, YEAR_ID column
  3. Save the object
  4. Find the F_TUTORIAL_TARGETS table in the Schema Objects -> Tables folder
  5. Right click and select "Search for Dependents"
  6. The newly created Transformation object is not listed

CAUSE:
This is a known issue with Strategy.

ACTION:
Currently this issue is being reviewed by Strategy for a potential code fix on an upcoming Strategy release.
