KB39921: “Request timed out” error occurs when performing search within element prompt in a MDX report In MicroStrategy Developer

SYMPTOM
The following error is obtained when attempting to search for elements in a prompt containing a large number of elements in an MDX report in Strategy Developer:

Request timed out.

 
It is noticed that the search times out when the element prompt has be a more complex MDX view as compared to a search that does not timeout:
 
CAUSE
More complex MDX statement result from doing a search on non-ID or DESC forms. Strategy Engine does searches against all forms set as Browse Forms in the attribute definition when performing search action within element prompt. Any query that uses non-ID or DESC forms are much slower in processing on the SAP side. Eliminating the search on such forms by removing those forms from the 'Browse forms' pane should result in faster processing on the SAP side.
 
ACTION
Remove the non-ID or DESC forms from the 'Browse forms' pane for the attribute in question as shown below:
