KB40187: HTML formatting in E-mail delivered by Distribution Services 9.2.x is not correct for a multi-layout Report Services Document - Dashboard

Community Admin

• Strategy

When users create a multi-layout Report Services Document > Dashboard and send it as HTML in the E-mail subscription in Distribution Services, the layout formatting is off as seen in the screen shot below. The second layout title name is to the right of the first grid and not on top of the second layout on the top left like the first layout title name

SYMPTOM:
When users create a multi-layout Report Services Document - Dashboard and send it as HTML in the E-mail subscription in Distribution Services, the layout formatting is off as seen in the screen shot below. The second layout title name is to the right of the first grid and not on top of the second layout on the top left like the first layout title name.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
If the subscription is changed to a File delivery instead of E-mail delivery, the formatting looks like what is expected.

  1. Create a simple report with Year and Revenue.
  2. Create a document/dashboard with two layouts using the newly created report.
  3. Place the report grid on both layouts.
  4. Run the document in Web and 'Send Now' with 'Expand layouts' checked and delivery format of type 'HTML'. Notice in the E-mail that the formatting is off.

CAUSE:
This is a known issue in Strategy Distribution Services 9.2.x.
ACTION:
This issue was not reproduced in Strategy Distribution Services 9.4.1 Hotfix 9 nor 10.4 Hotfix 3. Upgrade to these versions to take advantage of this fix.
WORKAROUND:
Use only one layout if delivery format type must be HTML or use Excel/PDF attachments for multiple layouts.
Note: Checking the 'Use only tables to position elements in HTML (Enable for Microsoft Outlook 2007)' MIME Option does not improve the formatting.
